adblock in mind
Why web desingers and developers should take in consdiration adblock?
There are many way to detect and force the users to disable adblock in order to so they can access to the content but is it really the right way to go ?
I found on adblockplus.org a feature in adblock that has been around for a while now that allow certain ads to be visible by default.
Most of web users nowadays are having adblock enabled to block those annoying ads, but what about legitimate use of ads there are many blogs and websites that rely on ads to pay the bills? So by killing their only source of revenue they may cease to exist.
I usually white list all the blogs that i read frequently or any website that it ask you nicely to disable adblock on their domain, but this task over time become a time consuming task and as we all are lazy web users some of us won’t do this just because it’s an extra few clicks.
Personally i wouldn’t mind a beautifully designed ads that come in may way when i read an article or use a service, and this is the source of the problem today ads don’t respect the users and their need to access information, so we see bad practice and even evil ones that force the users to click on ads in order to access the content, if we eradicate those practises we won’t need any tool to block them so this is where designer need to know where to place ads on their designs and take back their responsibility to make the web more beautiful and attractive and front end developers should also take their part or responsibility to stop this ads chaos.
